Before We Get There

  • Make sure the car is in park, and try turning the wheel a little while you turn the key.
  • Don't force the key or use pliers. A snapped key is harder to fix.
  • Tell us the year, make and model.

Good to Know

  1. Why won't my key come out of the ignition? A worn key, a worn ignition lock, or the car not fully in park. We check all three.
  2. Can you fix the ignition instead of replacing it? Often, yes. If it's too worn, we replace it during the same trip.
  3. Can you make a spare Chevy key while you're there? Yes. We cut and program keys for domestic and Asian cars.
  4. Every key to the car is gone. Can you make one without taking it anywhere? Yes. The key is cut at the curb, programmed to the car, and we start the engine with you before we leave. We'll ask to see an ID and the registration.
  5. The kids locked the side door and I'm outside with no key. Can you help? Sure. That door gets opened, and we show you the lock still works with your own key.
  6. Why do so many streets here have tree names? In 1895 the Kennard Land Company bought Lange's Farm and mapped out the streets, naming them after trees: Spruce, Ash, Cedar, Maple, Hickory, Walnut and others.
