Lost Your Lincoln Key? Call Us Any Hour

AUTHORITY LOCKSMITH INC · LINCOLN KEYS

Lincolns use Ford's chip key system, and newer ones start with a smart key. Whether it went missing or just quit, we head out 24/7 and set up a new Lincoln key. That covers Town Car chip keys, the remote head keys of the early 2010s and Intelligent Access on newer Lincolns. Call (443) 527-1442.

When Lincoln Keys Act Up

  • An older Lincoln key turns, yet the engine never fires.
  • The fob's panic button goes off by itself in your pocket.

Lincoln Keys by Type

  • Chip keys (turn ignition): the Town Car, LS, Zephyr and older Navigators, roughly late 1990s through the 2000s; the Navigator stayed with a turn key and its own remote through about 2014.
  • Remote head keys: some turn-key MKZ and other Lincolns of the early 2010s, with the buttons built into the key head.
  • Intelligent Access smart keys (push-button start): the Navigator from about 2015, and the MKC, Continental, Nautilus, Corsair and Aviator, plus many MKX, MKS and MKZ models.

The year can change the whole system. A 2014 Navigator turns a chip key, but the 2015 Navigator has push-button start. Call (443) 527-1442 and give us the VIN; that tells us exactly which Lincoln key to program.

On a Lincoln, the driver's door edge carries a VIN sticker; the number is also visible from outside where the windshield meets the dash.

Lincoln Key Problems We Fix

Lincoln Intelligent Access and push-button start

  • We program extra Lincoln smart keys, and replacements, for the Navigator, Aviator, Nautilus, Corsair, MKZ and MKX.
  • A message that no key is detected usually means a low battery. Most Lincolns have a backup spot, often in the console, where the key is still read; check your owner's manual for yours.
  • The smart key holds a removable blade for the driver's door.

Broken Lincoln key? Head, blade or smart key case

  • Town Car and Navigator chip keys often crack at the rubber head and lose the chip. Bring every piece so we can check the chip first.
  • Remote head keys wear out at the buttons; sometimes a new head is enough, other times a new key gets programmed.
  • Smart key cases separate along their edges, and the hidden blade can jam; a fresh case usually fixes both.

Before We Get There

  • Tell us whether your Lincoln has a start button.
  • Tell us if you have any other working key.

Good to Know

  1. Can I get into my Lincoln with the door keypad if I lost the key? Yes, if you know the code. You'll still need a programmed key to start the car.
  2. No Lincoln keys left at all. Can you still program one? Yes, for most Lincoln models.
  3. Is a Lincoln key the same as a Ford key? Many use the same systems, but each Lincoln key is programmed to your vehicle.
  4. What is Lincoln Intelligent Access? Lincoln calls its keyless setup Intelligent Access. The car picks up the key when you're near, so the door opens at the handle and starting takes one push of a button with the key in your pocket.
  5. My Navigator came with a key plus its own remote. Can you replace both? Yes. We program both the chip key and the separate remote to your truck.
  6. Does a new key change my Lincoln's door keypad code? No. The keypad code is separate from the keys, so it stays the same after we program a new key.
