When Cadillac Keys Act Up

  • The liftgate button on the fob stops working.
  • Older DeVille or DTS key getting hard to turn? The blade and the ignition lock can both wear, and we find the worn one before cutting anything.

Cadillac Keys by Type

  • Turn-key chip keys, remote on the ring: the Escalade from about 2007 to 2014 and many older sedans; the key turns the ignition and the remote rides on the ring.
  • GM flip keys: many CTS and SRX models built between about 2008 and the early 2010s, depending on trim.
  • Keyless Access fobs (start by button): the Escalade since its 2015 redesign, the ATS, XTS and CT6, and every XT4, XT5, XT6, CT4 and CT5.

Cadillac Key Problems We Fix

Cadillac Keyless Access fobs and push-button start

  • We program extra and replacement fobs for the Escalade, XT4, XT5, XT6, CT4 and CT5.
  • A no-remote warning on the dash usually comes from a fob battery running low. The FAQ below tells you where the transmitter pocket is.
  • Each fob carries a slide-out metal key that fits the driver's door.

Broken Cadillac key? Flip key, remote or fob case

  • A CTS or SRX flip key can lose its snap, leaving the blade loose. A new blade or housing fixes that and your remote buttons carry over.
  • On an older Escalade, the separate remote and the chip key can fail on their own, so we test each one and replace only what's dead.
  • Fob shells on newer Cadillacs crack at the corners; if the board inside still works, we transfer it to a fresh shell.

Good to Know

  1. Where is the transmitter pocket in my Cadillac? It's a spot in the console or cup holder area where the car can read a weak fob. Your owner's manual shows where it is.
  2. Can you make an Escalade key if all keys are lost? Yes. We program a new smart key to your Escalade.
  3. Can you program a Cadillac fob with remote start? Yes, for models that came with remote start from the factory.
  4. What does Keyless Access mean on a Cadillac? It's Cadillac's name for keyless entry with push-button start. The car senses the fob close by, so you open the door and start the engine without taking it out.
  5. Is a Cadillac fob the same as a Chevy or GMC fob? Some share GM parts, but the fob has to be programmed to your Cadillac, and many Cadillac fobs have their own shell and buttons.
